EMIGRATING TO BALI

From a thunderbolt from the blue sky, to packing up, selling everything we had in the Netherlands and leaving... for good, to Bali, literally on the other side of the world.

Yes, that's possible! Everything is possible if you really want it. Even a journey of more than 7000 miles starts with a first step...

Despite our advanced age - in our 80s - we have persevered with our dreams!

In our case it was a very fortunate circumstance that we were accompanied by our friends Karin and Edwin Hess and Mulia Manise Utama, they had already taken this step in 2021. They accompanied us all the way, from leaving the Netherlands to our “own traditional wooden Joglo house", located in the heart of Bali.

Now, September 2024, almost a year after I fell in love with this fantastic piece of land, our wooden house has been built and we live among the cool greenery with a view of the blue mountains in the distance, far away from all the tourist crowds and busy beaches.

Every day we learn more about the Balinese nature and our local community around us. Our local community and her people are so kind and helpful, we feel that we are really a part of this and that is why we are so “senang sekali” here in the little village Kerta, Petang, in Badung Region.
